NEWBERN — Dyer County made sure Senior Night ended with a celebration Monday night. The Choctaws turned in a dominant performance, sweeping Jackson Christian 25-7, 25-14, 25-14 for a 3-0 victory. Dyer County controlled the match from the opening serve, allowing just seven points in the first set before closing out the night with identical 25-14 wins in the second and third sets. The Choctaws were particularly effective from the service line, finishing with six aces and only four service errors on 72 attempts. Zoey Morris led Dyer County with four aces, while Katie Caldwell and Evie Rogers added one apiece. The victory provided a fitting finish to a special night as Dyer County honored its six seniors and their contributions to a program that has enjoyed tremendous success during their careers. Dyer County also picked up a win in junior varsity action, completing a sweep of the night's matches. The JV Choctaws defeated Jackson Christian 25-11, 25-11. Macy Seaton led the way at the service line with six aces, helping Dyer County finish with 10 as a team. For the varsity Choctaws, Monday was about more than another victory. It was an opportunity to recognize a senior class that has helped continue Dyer County's tradition of success — and they marked the occasion with a straight-set victory on their home floor. There won't be much time to celebrate, however. Dyer County will be right back in action Tuesday night for the regular-season finale, hosting District 13AA rival Crockett County for Alumni Night. The Choctaws will look to close out the regular season on a high note before turning their attention to postseason play.
