COLLIERVILLE, Tenn. — Dyer County Volleyball stepped away from District 13AA play Thursday night for a road test against Collierville, with all three Lady Choctaw teams taking the court. The varsity match featured several tightly contested sets before Collierville came away with a 3-1 victory, 25-23, 25-19, 29-31, 25-20. Dyer County nearly grabbed the opening set, battling the Lady Dragons before falling 25-23. Collierville extended its advantage with a 25-19 win in the second, putting the Lady Choctaws in a 2-0 hole. DC responded with the most competitive set of the night. Neither team could create separation in an extended third set, with the Lady Choctaws fighting off the possibility of a sweep and eventually prevailing 31-29 to force a fourth. Collierville answered by taking the fourth set 25-20 to close out the match. Dyer County recorded five service aces in the varsity match. Kierstyn Ray led DC with two aces, while Kate Benedetto, Zoey Morris and Katie Beth Caldwell each added one. The loss came in non-district competition, meaning Dyer County's undefeated mark in District 13AA remains intact following Tuesday's 3-1 district victory over Crockett County. Collierville also took the junior varsity match, 2-0, but the second set went beyond regulation before the Lady Dragons escaped with a 26-24 victory. Collierville won the opener 25-19. Kate Benedetto and Molly Davis recorded one ace apiece for DC. In freshman action, Collierville defeated Dyer County 2-0, winning 25-18 and 25-20. Rylee Peevyhouse led the Lady Choctaws with two aces, while Harper Peery added one. Despite the varsity loss, Thursday provided Dyer County another challenging non-district matchup as the Lady Choctaws continue preparing for the stretch run of their district schedule. Dyer County will travel to Franklin, TN this weekend for the Wilco Volleyball Tournament that begins on Friday afternoon. #TRIBE4LIFE
