Dyer County opened the 2026 football season in impressive fashion Friday night, defeating rival Dyersburg 42-20 in front of a large crowd and extending the Choctaws’ winning streak in the series to three straight games. The Choctaws established control early and never trailed, building a 21-7 advantage before taking a 28-14 lead into halftime. Dyer County struck first when Bryce Fulton found the end zone on a 22-yard touchdown run. KeAnthony Barbee followed with a 2-yard touchdown run, and the Choctaws quickly found themselves in control. Dyersburg answered to make it 14-7, but Dyer County responded before the half. Fulton scored his second touchdown of the night, this time from eight yards out, to help send the Choctaws into the locker room with a three-touchdown advantage. Dyer County continued to add to its lead after halftime. A blocked Dyersburg punt was recovered by Eli Pollock in the end zone for a touchdown, and Landen White later scored on a 15-yard run. Barbee added his second touchdown of the night on a 2-yard run in the fourth quarter to complete the Choctaws’ scoring. Dillon Rogers was a perfect 6-for-6 on extra-point attempts. Offensively, Dyer County finished with 385 total yards while averaging 6.9 yards per play. The Choctaws did their damage both on the ground and through the air, rushing for 230 yards and throwing for another 155. Dyer County also consistently moved the chains, finishing with 20 first downs compared to 10 for Dyersburg. The Choctaws converted six of their 11 third-down opportunities and were a perfect 2-for-2 on fourth down. The Dyer County defense limited Dyersburg to 198 yards of total offense. The Trojans were held to just 27 yards through the air and converted only o 1 of 11 third-down opportunities. After leading 28-7 at halftime, Dyer County kept Dyersburg at a distance throughout the second half. The Trojans scored 13 points after the break, but the Choctaws answered with 14 of their own to secure the 42-20 victory. The season-opening win gives Dyer County a 1-0 start to the 2026 campaign and run the Choctaws win streak to three in a row over the Trojans. Dyer County will be back in action next Friday night as they host Union City at 7PM.
