Dyer County Varsity Volleyball got off to a strong start Friday at the Volley in the Ville tournament in Collierville, picking up a pair of straight-set victories to begin tournament play. The Choctaws opened the tournament against DeSoto Central, taking control early with a 25-13 victory in the first set. DeSoto Central made things closer in the second, but Dyer County finished off the sweep with a 25-19 win to take the match 2-0. Dyer County followed with another strong performance against Oxford. The Choctaws took the opening set 25-17 before closing out the match with a 25-14 victory in the second set, earning their second 2-0 sweep of the day. Dyer County finished Friday's opening round of tournament action 4-0 in sets, outscoring its two opponents 100-63. The two victories also continued a strong week for the Choctaws, who picked up home wins over Lexington and Trinity Christian Academy before heading to Collierville. Tournament play continues Saturday, with Dyer County returning to the court at 10 a.m. to face Jackson Christian.
