Dyer County volleyball opened its 2026 season on the road Monday evening, traveling to Arlington for a full night of action against the Tigers. The freshman, junior varsity and varsity squads all took the court for their first matches of the year. The night began on a high note for Dyer County as the freshman Choctaws swept Arlington in two sets, 25-17 and 25-22. Dyer County’s freshmen were effective from the service line, recording eight aces on 47 service attempts while committing just five service errors in the victory. Arlington answered in the junior varsity match, taking a two-set victory over Dyer County. The Tigers won the opening set 25-12 before Dyer County made things much tighter in the second. Arlington eventually held off the Choctaws, 25-22, to complete the sweep. The evening concluded with the varsity matchup, where Arlington earned a 3-0 victory over Dyer County. The Tigers took the opening set 25-15, but Dyer County continued to battle as the match progressed. The Choctaws improved their point total in each set, falling 25-17 in the second and 25-18 in the third. At the service line, Dyer County recorded two aces on 51 attempts. Addy B Harrison (#5) and Zoey Morris (#9) accounted for the Choctaws’ two aces, with each recording one. Consistency at the service line proved to be one of the challenges for Dyer County in the season opener, as the Choctaws finished the varsity match with nine service errors. It will be an area the team will look to clean up as it moves into the early portion of the schedule. The opening-night trip gave all three Dyer County squads their first opportunity for live competition this season, highlighted by a straight-set victory from the freshman team. The turnaround will be a quick one for the JV and varsity squads. Dyer County returns to action Tuesday night for its home opener, hosting the Lexington Tigers.
